Ammonium Sulfate: One of The Most Important Sulfur Fertilizers in The World

Source

Ammonium sulfate mainly comes from the industrial sector as a
by-product produced by caprolactam from synthetic fiber industry or coke oven gas from steel industry.

The amount of by-product ammonium sulfate from ammonia-based desulfurization is continuously increasing. The by-product ammonium sulfate from ammonia-based desulfurization has reached 2 million tons in China. It is estimated that by 2020, the output of ammonium sulfate produced by ammonia-based desulfurization will reach 5 million tons or more in the world.
Production

Global production of ammonium sulfate in 2015: about 2300 million tons.

Features

Compared with other fertilizers, ammonium sulfate has the characteristics of high decomposition temperature and critical relative humidity. The physical and chemical properties are stable, which is not easy to absorb moisture, and contains no harmful components such as chlorine and biuret.
Application

Ammonium sulfate is suitable for sulfur-deficient soils and alkaline soils, and yield-increasing effects are more pronounced on sulfur-loving crops such as citrus, soybeans, sugar cane, sweet potatoes, peanuts, and tea.
