Singapore's Climate Action Ambassador Visits JNG, Globally Pioneering CCUF Technology Wins International Acclaim

JNG | 30 May, 2025

On May 29, 2025, Meng Wenneng, Singapore's Climate Action Ambassador and Senior Advisor of the National Climate Change Secretariat under the Strategy Group of the Prime Minister's Office, led a delegation to visit JNG. They conducted an on-site inspection of our globally-leading integrated ammonia-based desulfurization and decarbonization with fertilizer production technology (CCUF). Xu Junsheng, Chairman of JNG, Luo Jing, Chairman of JNG China, Zhang Jun, JNG Chief Engineer, and the technical team attended the exchange. The two sides had in-depth discussions on the innovation and application scenarios in the international market of our CCUF technology, and jointly explored the prospects for green and sustainable development cooperation.

Focus on Technological Innovation: A Global Breakthrough from "Carbon Sequestration" to "Carbon Conversion"

At the symposium, Chairman Xu Junsheng systematically introduced the CCUF technology system, which independently developed by JNG to the delegation. Through innovative processes, this technology can simultaneously achieve desulfurization and decarbonization of industrial flue gas in one single facility and convert the by-products into carbon-sulfur-based enhanced-efficiency fertilizer, completely subverting the application bottlenecks of traditional CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) technology, such as high cost and high risk.

After learning about this innovative technology, Ambassador Meng Wenneng expressed great interest. As the climate action ambassador of Singapore, they are actively seeking efficient ways to reduce carbon emissions. The successful practice of JNG has provided them with a solution.

Dual-effect verification: Synergistic win-win of emission reduction and income increase

The technological breakthrough of CCUF lies not only in the significant improvement of industrial carbon reduction efficiency, but also in the originality of its entire industrial chain development. Professor Ran Wei, JNG senior agricultural advisor, shared the field experiment data, which showed that the carbon-sulfur-based enhanced-efficiency fertilizer produced based on CCUF technology could reduce the cost of fertilization by 20%-30%, with carbon emissions being only one-third of those of ordinary fertilizers, while ensuring stable and increased crop yields. Currently, this technology has been successfully verified in China and in many European countries.

In the future, JNG will continue to utilize the CCUF technology to engage in algae cultivating and product development. Professor Deng Xiangyuan, the technical advisor for microalgae industry, further explained that JNG uses the low-concentration CO₂ and afterheat from the desulfurization and decarbonization process for miroalgae cultivation. This approach can reduce costs by 50%, forming a "gas-fertilizer-algae" full industrial chain loop, and achieving multiple carbon sequestration and resource utilization.

Ambassador Meng Wenneng expressed his high appreciation for this: "JNG’s CCUF technology has demonstrated a perfect implementation of the circular economy - it not only solved the problem of industrial emissions, but also created agricultural value-added products, providing a benchmark solution for global 'reducing carbon emissions without reducing production'."

Jointly discuss regional cooperation: Facilitating the green transformation of Southeast Asia

The Singapore delegation paid special attention to our company's layout plan in Southeast Asia. Chairman Xu Junsheng responded that the Southeast Asian market accounts for one-third of China's total exports of ammonium sulfate. JNG will promote the upgrading of regional green agriculture through transferring technology as well as constructing local projects. We look forward to using Singapore as a hub and collaborating with ASEAN countries to create a "low-carbon technology + smart agriculture" demonstration zone, in line with the goals of the "Singapore Green Plan 2030".

Ambassador Meng Wenneng emphasized: "Singapore is actively promoting climate resilience cooperation in Southeast Asia. JNG's technology and business model provide a feasible path for balancing regional emission reduction demands and economic development." He stated that Singapore will maintain close communication with JNG and jointly explore specific cooperation projects on climate response.

This visit marks that the innovative achievements of JNG have once again received international authoritative recognition. Our company will continue to deepen technological research and development, providing "Chinese solutions" for the global carbon neutrality goal. At the same time, through cross-border cooperation, it will enhance the quality of life and ecological well-being of people around the world.
